Work Package #4
Hybrid physical – digital testing platform and real time assessment of
large scale VF buildings and multiple earthquakes scenario
Utilization of test results in hybrid testing of high-rise large scale renovated VF building for multiple earthquakes scenario.
Deliverables
D4.1 Investigation of the scenario of high –rise renovated VF building subjected to multiple earthquakes and real time health monitoring
This report evaluates the seismic resilience of a typical six-story (multi-storey, high-rise) reinforced concrete (RC) structure renovated with Vertical Forest (VF), planters and Living Wall (LW) systems. Utilizing the ReplicaXLite hybrid platform and OpenSeesPy, the study investigates various structural configurations—including pilotis (soft-story) and infilled frames in all storeys—subjected to modal, non-linear static pushover, and dynamic inelastic time history analyses. The platform enables for the utilization of the experimental results with respect to the performance of advanced interventions and vertical forest renovations (coupled analysis), in hybrid testing of high-rise buildings for executing multiple earthquake scenarios, with real-time health monitoring. The research aims to determine if specialized retrofitting-strengthening techniques can safely support the additional infrastructure and mass of green interventions under both far-field and aggressive near-field seismic scenarios.
